European Heart Failure Awareness Day is designed to raise awareness of heart failure, including possible symptoms, the importance of an early and accurate diagnosis, and the need for optimal treatment. This Europe-wide initiative was developed through the combined efforts of National Societies of Heart Failure across Europe, as part of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC)/Heart Failure Association (HFA) activities.
The date of European Heart Failure Awareness Day in 2017 is Friday 5 May.
To help advertise European Heart Failure Awareness Day and your activities we have created a poster that can be readily downloaded and printed.
BSH and The Pumping Marvellous Foundation
This year the BSH has teamed up with the heart failure patient charity, The Pumping Marvellous Foundation, to lead on several initiatives.
- A digital pack, adaptable for local use, will be made available to all clinicians raising heart failure awareness across the UK.
- A series of video car pool consultations will be launched on the day, featuring heart failure specialists, patients and carers discussing the impact that heart failure has had on their lives and careers, and the success and challenges of the condition.
- An element of fun will be a virtual cat and dog show. The competition will be open to the general public but will target patients and clinicians who will be able to enter their lovable pet. The competition will be sponsored by Natural Instinct, a manufacturer of raw healthy pet foods. The company is keen to advertise the competition and, with a following in excess of 25,000 on their social media channels plus their customer database, we have the opportunity to make a huge number of people aware of heart failure. We are hoping to have a celebrity judge and many prizes.
Further information will appear on the BSH and Pumping Marvellous websites in the coming weeks
