“The BSH is a dynamic and forward thinking organisation which places the needs of patients with heart failure at the forefront of their plans.  As a heart failure trainee, it offers an inclusive membership with opportunities for training, networking and research fellowships.”

Dr Kyle McBeath, Clinical research fellow in heart failure at Royal Brompton Hospital, London ST5 cardiology trainee

“When I started out as a Heart Failure Specialist Nurse  (HFSN) I became a BSH member. Attending meetings gave me the opportunity to learn directly from world renowned experts in heart failure. I was also able to connect with other heart failure teams and share ideas, aspirations and experiences.

I applied to become a volunteer on the Nurse Forum steering committee in 2019 and it has been a fantastic experience! Alongside some dynamic and innovative HFSN on the forum, we have engaged in projects that promote and support heart failure nursing and which raise awareness of heart failure. As an example, the position statement on maintaining HFSN during the pandemic was of great use to me and I hope it has been to others.”

Poppy Brooks, Lead Advanced Practitioner for cardiac support services, Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust and Chair of the BSH Nurse Forum

“As a heart failure registrar, BSH gave me an unrivalled opportunity to meet and learn from world leading heart failure specialists. Being on the BSH Policy and Media committee means I have learnt a lot more about how things work behind the scenes and it has been a joy to work with such enthusiastic and motivated team members. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and so excited about the management of Heart Failure! I am now starting my new role as a Heart Failure and Complex Device Consultant and I do so full of confidence and ideas for my ongoing work with the BSH.”

Dr Tiffany Kemp Consultant Cardiologist subspecialising in Heart Failure and Complex Devices - Royal Cornwall Hospital

“I have gained so much from my membership with the BSH.  The conference is a great way to keep up to date with heart failure management, but more than that, networking with other teams, sharing ideas and experiences benefits everyone including the patients in our care.  Furthermore, being engaged in the BSH nurse forum has enabled me to meet and work with committed and enthusiastic professionals who are inspirational and promote the key role heart failure nurses have in clinical practice.”
