Alan Japp

Alan is a Consultant Cardiologist in NHS Lothian where he is the Clinical Lead for both Heart Failure and Echocardiography.

Since 2021 he has been Chair of the Scottish Heart Failure Network (‘Heart Failure Hub Scotland’) and a member of the Scottish Heart Disease Taskforce Executive. In these role, he engages with Heart Failure Clinicians across Scotland and provides strategic leadership to support improvements in the delivery of care and drive forward the priority areas of work for NHS Scotland.

Alan is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh and plays an active role in Heart Failure Research. He has been a Co-Investigator for several major clinical trials in Heart Failure including IRONMAN and DAPA-HF.
