Maria Paton
Dr Maria Paton is a NIHR BRC Postdoctoral Fellow and Honorary Cardiac Scientist at the University of Leeds and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. She specialises in echocardiography, heart failure, and cardiac device therapy, and leads heart failure and cardiac device services within Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Her research focuses on heart failure, cardiac imaging, device optimisation, and remote monitoring, with particular interests in pacemaker-associated heart failure. She has held several NIHR clinical academic fellowships and is actively involved in national collaborative research initiatives, including the National Echocardiography Database-UK.
Dr Paton is also a Trustee and Chair of Research for the British Society of Echocardiography and an NHS England Expert Advisor on Heart Failure and is very passionate about developing and embedding cardiac scientists and physiologists within the multidisciplinary heart failure team.
