Research Committee Chair
The British Society for Heart Failure (BSH) is seeking to appoint a new Chair of the Research Committee - a pivotal leadership role at the heart of our mission to advance heart failure research across the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinician, academic, or researcher with recognised expertise in heart failure or a closely related cardiovascular field to shape and drive the Society’s research agenda. The Chair will work in partnership with fellow Committee members and the BSH Board of Trustees to ensure the Committee’s work is aligned with the Society’s strategic priorities and delivers meaningful impact for patients and professionals alike.
About the Role
The Research Committee exists to:
Coordinate and promote heart failure research activity across the UK.
Mentor BSH members interested in developing research.
Liaise with external bodies to support efficient, inclusive, and impactful research.
Publicise research opportunities and disseminate findings.
As Chair, you will:
Lead the Committee and uphold its Terms of Reference.
Foster high standards of governance and transparency.
Guide the strategic direction of BSH’s research efforts.
Support and mentor Committee members.
Represent the Committee and BSH in external forums and collaborations.
We’re Looking for:
Senior clinicians, academics, or researchers with a strong track record in heart failure or cardiovascular research.
Have experience chairing or contributing to multidisciplinary research groups or professional committees.
Demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.
Are committed to inclusive research and the values of the BSH.
The Chair may be a current BSH member or Trustee. The term of office will be agreed by the Board of Trustees.
