Owais Dar

Owais Dar is a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in Heart Failure, Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support at Harefield Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He is also an Honorary Reader and Adjunct Reader in Heart Failure and Transplantation at King’s College London.

He completed his cardiology and advanced heart failure training in London, followed by an international fellowship in advanced heart failure, transplantation and LVAD therapy at Vienna General Hospital and Stanford Health Care, USA. His research focuses on biomarkers in heart failure, non-invasive cardiac rejection assessment, obesity and weight loss in advanced heart failure, and he is leading the SCOPE-HF study, a large epidemiological study of stage A to D heart failure.

Dr Dar runs an advanced heart failure course endorsed by the ESC, BSH and BCS, aimed at improving knowledge of heart transplantation and LVAD therapy to enhance patient access to these life-saving treatments. He has authored multiple publications and is passionate about teaching and advancing heart failure care across the UK.
